Apprenticeship and working at WEIG – the new career portal offers interesting insights

Interested in an apprenticeship or working at WEIG? Then the new career portal is the place for you. School pupils, university students, graduates and professionals – the career portal is the one-stop shop for everyone, containing extensive information on opportunities and vacancies within the WEIG Group, all presented in a sleek, modern design from first-hand.

WEIG is undoubtedly well-known – in the industry and in the region surrounding each WEIG location. In addition to its products and services, WEIG is known for its SME-style, owner-managed family business-like culture. This culture is reflected in the company’s guiding motto “driven by care” and applies for all employees throughout the company, including in the packaging, cartonboard and recycling departments, as well as group services. A total of 1,500 people work at WEIG across Europe and South America in various positions, a large majority of which are trained internally. And what young professionals find particularly inspiring is the fact that recycling and resource conservation play such a huge role at WEIG.

Interested in an apprenticeship? Our site in Mayen alone takes on up to 20 new apprentices every year. We currently offer 16 different business and technical apprenticeships. Dual study programmes are also possible. There’s something for everyone. And diversity is important – even when it comes to apprenticeships. Apprenticeships often follow on from work experience placements. Our range of placements and apprenticeships has even earned us recognition as a “Fair Company”.

Once a WEIG employee, you can also profit from countless opportunities for professional and personal further development in the WEIG Academy. Our internal talent management identifies employees “with potential” and provides targeted further development. And as a manager at WEIG, you will be put through a multi-level management training course.

The new career portal can’t put down everything in writing, but the information there is presented directly by WEIG staff members. And it’s not just the packaging, cartonboard and recycling business units you can learn about here. You can also read reports from current employees from different departments on their development and activity at WEIG. This lets you experience first-hand what a usual working day at the international, family-run company WEIG looks like and what drives us.

As well as these first-hand accounts from employees, the career portal is also the place to find all of our current vacancies in various departments. We also welcome speculative applications. The FAQ section provides answers to any frequently asked questions.
