Three days, 1,455 exhibitors, around 37,000 visitors, and countless valuable conversations – that’s how to summarise FACHPACK 2024. WEIG-Packaging was once again present and reflects on numerous new contacts and a rich exchange with trade show visitors. Sustainability was the main topic of conversation. The WEIG stand impressed with its new design, which highlighted the company’s innovative and sustainable products.
As with the previous FACHPACK, the demand for eco-friendly packaging solutions was high. The WEIG stand, fully focused on sustainability, attracted particularly large visitor numbers. “There was always something going on, with hardly an empty seat,” reports Lars-Henrik Meyer-Winter, Sales Manager Packaging. The new stand design, featuring the “Connectivity Box” and the “Sustainability Box,” especially captured the attention of the visitors.
In the Connectivity Box, visitors were able to discover WEIG-Packaging’s technical solutions. Among the products showcased were innovative folding cartons with various closure mechanisms, paper-based plastic-free window inserts, and special gluing techniques for finished cartons.
The Sustainability Box was entirely dedicated to the topic of sustainability and surprised visitors with an innovative printing technique that transforms white recycled cardboard into a brown variant. This opens up numerous design possibilities for customers, including folding cartons with a wood-like appearance or the easy integration of EAN codes.
The trade show provided WEIG-Packaging with an excellent opportunity to further expand its reputation as a supplier of folding cartons. “Many of our visitors were pleasantly surprised to learn that WEIG not only offers cardboard products but also folding cartons and pre-glued packaging. For some, this was a real eye-opener,” explains Lars-Henrik Meyer-Winter. “Overall, we received a lot of positive feedback from customers. Our stand and our products were visual highlights.”
Although visitors were somewhat hesitant regarding concrete investment decisions, the overall atmosphere at FACHPACK was positive. Many companies are ready to respond to the anticipated economic upswing. Particularly pleasing for WEIG-Packaging was the large number of high-quality discussions. Many of the visitors were decision-makers such as purchasing managers and managing directors, which underscores the quality of the conversations.
“We would like to thank all our visitors for their great support and the many constructive conversations. The consistently positive feedback and the numerous promising new contacts confirm the success of our trade show appearance,” concludes Mr Meyer-Winter. Special thanks also go to the WEIG team for their excellent organisation of the event.
Will WEIG participate again next year? “The positive signs make another participation very likely,” says Lars-Henrik Meyer-Winter. “However, we first need to analyse this year’s trade show and evaluate whether the effort was justified. If that’s the case, I could also see a joint stand with WEIG-Karton as a possibility, as many visitors specifically asked about the colleagues from Mayen.” A joint trade show appearance by the two business units could also be interesting for visitors: they could directly see the synergies resulting from the circular economy between WEIG-Karton and WEIG-Packaging. We can’t wait to see what happens!
